Top 5 Tuesday: New-to-Me Authors in 2017

Hi everyone!! Welcome to another Top 5 Tuesday post. T5T is a bookish meme hosted by Shanah over at Bionic Book Worm. If you’re interested in this month’s topics, you can check them out here.

For this week, we’re talking about our top 5 – or 10 – authors that we read for the first time in 2017. I read mostly new authors this year, so this was not too easy to narrow down!

Let’s get started…

5. Ania Ahlborn

I recently read The Devil Crept In, a disturbing horror book – my first horror book, actually – and I absolutely loved it! It was scary and pretty gross, but I loved every page of it. Therefore, I thought Ahlborn deserved a spot on this list.

I will definitely read more of her books, but until then you might want to take a look at my review for The Devil Crept In.

4. Paula Hawkins

Into the Water was the first thriller I read, and it made me fall in love with the genre. I read it pretty quickly, loved it, and immediately got The Girl on the Train – but haven’t it read yet, oops – so I could be on top of everything Hawkins wrote.

I wrote a thorough review on it, and even uploaded a review on my booktube channel (although that one is in Portuguese), so you can probably guess how excited I was about having read that book 😀 You can check the review out here.

3. Candace Ganger

Candace Ganger’s debut novel, The Inevitable Collision of Birdie and Bash, is one of the best and most meaningful contemporary YA romances I’ve read – and I’ve read a lot of them! It’s definitely one of my favorite contemporaries of all time, and I’m really hoping for new books from her.

She’s pretty underrated, which pisses me off, because her debut is amazing. It’s sad and tragic, but it’s cheerful and lovely. A romance revolving around terrible and unfortunate events that I couldn’t get out of my head. If you’d like more of my thoughts, check out my review here.

2. Caroline Kepnes

I read Kepnes’s most famous book, You, and it is one of my favorite books of the year, by far. So addictive, I literally only put it down when I couldn’t keep my eyes open any longer.

Because of You, Caroline Kepnes deserves the silver medal. Don’t forget to check out my review of You, if you’re wondering why I’m raving about it!

1. Sarah J. Maas

If you’ve read my blog, this should be expected. I read Sarah J. Maas’s ACOTAR trilogy earlier this year and completely fell in love with her characters, her writing and her stories. She’s become my all-time favorite author, so she had to be number one on this list.

I can’t wait until I have some free time to read so I can binge her Throne of Glass series!! In case you’re curious, you can check out my reviews for her books here.

Let me know all about your own top 5 in the comments!

Thank you for reading,
I’ll see you in my next post ♡
